Governor Willie Obiano has inaugurated a 22-member State Committee for the burial of former Vice-president, late Dr Alex Ekwueme.
The Committee which has its Chairman and Secretary as the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu and Mr Amaechi Akorah respectively and other members to include the wife of the gyovernor, Chief Mrs Ebelechukwu Obiano, some members of the National and State Assemblies from the state.
Others include traditional rulers as well as representatives of the SouthEast States of the Federation.
The Committee has as its terms of reference, to work as a subcommittee to the Committee set up by the Federal Government chaired by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, to see to it that the late elder statesman is given a befitting burial.
He expressed satisfaction that the Federal Government is taking the burial seriously but urged the Committee not to leave any stone unturned towards ensuring that their mandate is realized.
Responding on behalf of the Committee members, the SSG, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu thanked the Governor for finding them worthy to serve under the Committee and promised that they will immediately swing into action to achieve their mandate as according to him, the late Dr Ekwueme deserves the best honour from his home country
