Man Charged For Alleged Stealing Of Block Moulding Machine In Akure

A 34-year-old man, Isaac Gbenga has been dragged before an Akure Magistrate Court for allegedly stealing a block molding machine.

The accused and others now at large sometimes in the month of January 2018 at 10:00am at Ogun Ajobo Shagari area of` Akure in the Akure Magisterial district were alleged to have conspired to commit felony to wit stealing.

According to the charge sheet, the accused person on the same day and time was also alleged to have stolen a block moulding machine and rammer valued at #75,000 which is the property of one Sunday Alabi.

The charge sheet read in part “That you, Isaac Gbenga on May 16, 2018 at about 11:00am at Ogun Ajobo Street, Akure in the Akure magisterial district conducted yourself in a manner likely to cause the breach of peace by keeping block moulding machine and rammer which does not belong to you in your possession.

The offenses are said to contradict sections 516,390(9), 249 and 427 of the Criminal Code Cap 37. Vol I laws of Ondo state of Nigeria 2006. The accused pleaded not guilty to the four count charge preferred against him.

The prosecutor, Corporal Kehinde Emmanuel applied for an adjournment to enable him to study the case file.

Counsel to the accused, Barrister G .O Omoedu applied for the bail of the accused saying that the offenses are bailable.

In her ruling, the Chief Magistrate, Mrs R.A Olumilua admitted the accused to bail in the sum of #400,000 (four hundred thousand Naira only) with one surety in like sum who must be a relative to the accused. The case was adjourned till June 1, 2018
