A woman, Mrs. Olubunmi Aboloye has approached a High Court of Justice sitting in Akure seeking separation and dissolution of her 18-year- old marriage with her husband, Mr. Abiodun Aboloye over neglect, lack of love and desertion.
She stated that she got married to the respondent in a traditional marriage in the year 2000 and had three children for him; the first in the year 2000, the second one in 2004 and the third one in 2011.
She told the court that their marriage was legalized on the 9th of January, 2015 at the Marriage Registry in Akure South Local Government.
The petitioner’s counsel, Timileyin Oguntuase made an application to tender the marriage certificate given to the couple at the marriage registry as an exhibit and it was admitted by the court.
She however claimed that shortly after the marriage, he began to misbehave by staying out late at nights and sometimes not coming home at all.
She told the court that she tried to make him see reason why he should not keep late nights but he would not listen to her.
She stated that at a point when she did not know how to reach him, she reported to his parents so that they could intervene in the matter.
She said rather than listening to his parents and changing his ways, her husband packed his belongings and left home.
She testified that all her entreaties that he should come back home if not for her but for his children fell on deaf ears as he had not come home since he left in 2015.
She prayed the court to allow their children stay with her and order the husband to continue to pay for the children’s school fees as he had been doing and also pay N50,000 for the family upkeep monthly.
The Presiding Judge, Justice B.I Adegoroye thereafter adjouned the case till 26th of June.
