The South-West caucus of the All Progressives Congress, APC, United Kingdom Chapter, representing the interest of the South West (SW) of Nigeria working in tandem with parent SW states to push Diaspora contribution to the South West states in Nigeria held its first quarterly meeting of the year on Friday, March 20, 2020.
The meeting of the caucus which is at the forefront flying the South West flag in the Diaspora was held in London, UK to brainstorm on the progress and prospects of the caucus, the party in the United Kingdom as well as at home especially with regards to the developments of South Western States.
The meeting was chaired by the APC South West UK Chairman, Honourable Kenny Ojutalayo.
At the meeting, Hon. Ojutalayo congratulated the newly sworn-in Deputy National Chairman (South) of the party at the National Secretariat, former governor of Oyo State, His Excellency Senator Abiola Ajimobi while appealing to the former Oyo State Governor to bring his indispensable wealth of experience to bear on his new pedestal. He reiterated his staunch belief in his ability which he described as a sine qua non asset that could only add value and foster unity and camaraderie among members of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
The meeting also expressed words of thanks and praises on the entire South West leaders for nominating Senator Ajimobi as the consensus candidate from the South West.
The meeting strongly supported the position that the nomination of Senator Ajimobi cannot be more appropriate as it was indeed a perfect replacement for the former Governor of Èkìtì State, Otunba Niyi Adebayo who is currently a minister of the Federation.
During the meeting, face-time calls were made to South West elders, the former National Chairman of APC, the octogenarian Pa Adebisi Akande, APC Zonal Secretary (Southwest), Basorun Ayobami Oladele Afolabi and former APC Lagos State Chairman, Chief Henry Ajomale were at hand to offer their advice and fatherly goodwill messages to SW members in the United Kingdom.
Also at the meeting, Prince Wole Olagunju was adopted as the new Genetal Secretary for APC South West UK. Mr Olagunju is a veteran politician, an astute administrator and a political wizard.
Other attendants at the meeting were many political bigwigs from the South West. Among those present were SW states chairpersons and senior SW leaders; Hon. Iyiola Awofidipe, Prof Bisi Adewole, Hon. Biodun Ali, Barrister Joseph Adebola, Hon. Femi Fafiyebi, Hon. Rasheed Adesokan, Prince Ade Omole, Prince Wole Olagunju, Otunba Ade Adeshina amongst other political titans.
The APC South West UK Chairman, Hon. Kenny Ojutalayo was commended for his leadership style and stewardship to APC South West in the UK as well as to the Parent body in Nigeria in the face of daunting challenges from detractors. He was particularly applauded for his temperament, his composure and his leadership prowess even in the face of defiant and recalcitrant members aided by other handful rogue elements who plotted a devastating coup that was a stillbirth and a total failure.
Members at the meeting unanimously agreed continue to promote the good work of our great party APC and forge ahead in mobilising more converts, rallying existing members and adhering to the party guidelines.
