As The Anglican Church Prays For Help From Above By Patrick Akobo

In recognition of the sovereignty of God and His omnipotence, the Anglican Churches in Anambra state will, once again, be holding their annual Prayer Rally.

The Prayer Rally will hold tomorrow, Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Dr. Alex Ekwueme square Awka, beginning by 10am. The theme for this year’s prayer rally is “Help from Above”
This prayer rally is to intercede for general problems of man, the state and the nation at large. It becomes more pertinent, especially now that the state is in election mood. The prayers of the church will surely douse the state of evil forces that may rear their ugly heads against peaceful election in the state.
The Archbishop of the Province of the Niger, accompanied by provincial Bishops, will lead the prayer, while Governor Willie Obiano will be the Special Guest of Honour. Also, the Bishops and parishioners from the nine Dioceses of Anglican Communion in the state, namely; Niger Diocese, Aguata, Nnewi, Ogbaru, Awka, Mbamili, Amichi and Ihiala Diocese as well as Diocese of Niger West, will form the mammoth crowd that will seek help from above by pouring out their heart in supplication, drawing down the glory of God with showers of blessings following.
It will be a time for revival, renewal, reawakening, redirection and repositioning; a time when God will answer the call of His children for the benefit of Ndi Anambra and the government of the state. The Bible is replete with admonition to Christians that they should not place their trust in men.
In Psalm one-two-one, verse one, David Prayed: “I will lift up my eyes unto the hills from whence cometh my help, my help cometh from the Lord who made the heaven and earth.” Even though he was king, David realized the futility of man’s effort without divine help. It is in realization of these that the Anglican faithful decided to come together under a corporate unction for the Grace of God in times of need.
These are peculiar times with peculiar challenges and problems. However, we believe that the faith of the people of God in this Prayer Rally will move God and charge the atmosphere at Dr Alex Ekwueme square Awka, venue of the Rally to literally become an atmosphere for miracles.
We wish to commend in a special way the leader of the province of the Niger, Anglican Communion, His Grace, Most Reverend Christian Efobi, in agreement with the other eight Anglican Bishops in Anambra state for organizing this annual Prayer Rally and bringing Ndi Anambra closer to God. Indeed, they are all good shepherds of the flock following after the foot step of the great Bishop and shepherd of our souls, the Lord Jesus Christ.
It is not surprising that this kind of rally is being organized by the Anglican Church because the church has been in the forefront of evangelizing the Igbo Land since the last half of the 19th century, through Onitsha in the year 1857. Before that time, the entire Igbo Land was in complete spiritual darkness as the glorious light of the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ was yet to be extended to the people. So, as a mother, the church is expected to take care of both the spiritual and physical needs of Ndi Anambra, and there is no better way to do these than to mobilize both the Government and Ndi Anambra to come to Dr. Alex Ekwueme square Awka tomorrow, Saturday, November 4, 2017 by 10am to humble themselves, pray and seek the face of God.
This is a call to repentance, a call to revival, a call for singleness of purpose, a call for a corporate prayer that will bring down the glory of God and His ceaseless showers of blessings on the Government, Ndi Anambra, all the faithful and indeed all and sundry. The light of the nation can only shine brighter with the light of the Gospel.
