Professor Emeritus, B. I.C Ijeomah on Friday warned on the dangers of Fulani herdsmen’s incursion into other Parts of Nigeria and the alleged agenda to take over Forcefully lands in the Suoth South region, others in the Country, saying that Nigeria might break if the”evil’ plans succeeded.
Professor Ijomah who Spoke to Journalists in Asaba while Commending the Okowa led administration, further warned that Cattle rearing was an occupation of one ethnic group with its duties not to destroy where ever Farmlands its Cattle graze, Stressing that any attempt to legislate that the Cattle Fulani herdsmen be given a legal authority to move into every town in Nigeria and aquire land against the Will of the People will be resisted as it might Spell doom or back Fire.
While describing Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as a Seasoned administrator, Professor Ijeomah said Nigerians should rise up against the Challenges introduced by President Muhammadu Buhari led administration, adding”As a member of the Nomadic Commission’ for sometime, We did everything to domesticate the Cattle Fulanis. We Used to teach this Nomadic Commission’, but unfortunately, the Fulanis do not want to Settle down in one Place so that they can go to School and be domesticated”‘
He said that the attempt to have grazing fields in every Part of Nigeria shows that the Federal Government is Sponsoring one Occupation and the Federal Government should know that it was wrong to throw its weight behind one Profession among many Professions in the Country.
“We have the Migrant Fishermen in the South and also in the North, the Federal Government has not Considered it necessary to aquire Strategic Water in the Country so that Fishermen Could Carry on their Fishing and the move to aquire land Compulsorily for Only one Profession ( Cattle rearing) is as dangerous as the massacre’, Ijeomah said
According to him,” It was another Ploy and Steps by Fulanis to extend to other Parts of Nigeria and I recall the Struggle of the Fulanis with the Birom People in Plateau State, they Struggled with the Indigenous Pupolation in Nasarawa and now by their Current record they have occupied Bukuru and driven the Indigenous Settlers away and what happened in Agatu was Planned to drive away the Indigenous Settlers and take the whole Place in the name of Cattle rearing”
He however drew the attention to the method of Operations by Fulani herdsmen, saying that they have gone as far as to Ndokwa in Delta State, Bayelsa State and Enugu and their method is to kill their Indigenous Settlers and take over their Farmlands,a situation he described as worrisome as President Muhammadu Buhari has not Condemn the massacre of Innocent Citizens by the Fulanis.
He urged Deltans to Join hands with Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to move the state forward, adding that the Governor had in the last four years distinguished himself as a working Governor.
