Tribunal Suspends Doctor Over Misconduct

The Medical and Dental Council Tribunal in Abuja, has sentenced a Lagos-based medical doctor, Wilfred Vitalis, to six months suspension for professional misconduct.

The Chairman of the Tribunal, Prof. Abba Hassan, said the tribunal ordered the doctor not to engage in medical practice for six months with effect from November 30, 2016.

Dr. Vitalis has been on suspension since the past Thirty- Two months- from November 30, 2016, till the delivery of the judgement.

The Chairman of the Tribunal, Prof. Abba Hassan, said that having listened to the plea for leniency from the respondent, as a first offender and having been on suspension since November 2016, the tribunal was mindful not to pass a maximum punishment which entailed striking out the respondent’s name from the register.

Reacting to the judgement,the Defence Cousel, Mr. Syvalnus Ogbonna expressed satisfaction with the out come.
